Dynamic Notion of Viability in Conservation of Urban Built Heritage: A Proposed Conceptual Framework
This paper presents a perspective on the dynamic notion of viability in respect of conserving urban built heritage. Following a preliminary literature review, it identifies a need for more precise and contextualized understanding of the phenomenon. To this end, it provides a short discourse on the dynamic notion of viability, identifying key constructs and determinants; as well as the multi-faceted nature of urban built heritage. Following on from this discussion, the paper then puts forth a unifying conceptual framework to reflect the complex interrelationships among principal components in a real-world situation.
