The Development of Cultural Entrepreneurship in the United States: Origins of Cultural Entrepreneurship
The force of cultural entrepreneurship is being recognized in the United States for the first time in the context of economic growth and sustaining such growth. This presentation discusses the origins of this force and why it is so popular and how it is contributing to the overall economy of the nation. City of Chicago is the center of this study and data collected is used to present arguments and findings to explain how this is being supported in academia. The developmet of new curriculum is discussed and examples are provided.

As the director and professor of entrepreneurship studies at Columbia College Chicago I am responsible for development and maintenance of the undergraduate and graduate level programs in arts entrepreneurship. Artists and cultural industry professionals are the primary beneficiaries of the programs. Cultural entrepreneurship is gaining recognition as the most critical catalyst for creating an developing economic growth in any given economy. My work includes research and development of new scales and measurements to enable us to recognize how this works and how best to support this growth. Other interests include Rasch methodology and questionnaire development for better analysis and unserstanding that can lead us to new theory generation.
