    The Hawke Research Institute for Sustainable Societies is one of six research institutes (and the first in the humanities and social sciences) at the University of South Australia. Named after a prominent social democratic Australian Prime Minister, R.J. Hawke, the Institute promotes research into ways of fostering inclusive, sustainable, and connected democratic communities in an ecologically balanced world.
